Cosmelan Treatment Options

Cosmelan combines a professional in-clinic treatment with recommended homecare used over the following months. Because pigmentation can have different causes and the treatment requires careful aftercare, everyone begins with a consultation.

Cosmelan consultation

$75.00

Your skin and pigmentation will be assessed to confirm whether Cosmelan is suitable. The consultation covers possible pigmentation triggers, your current products and medications, the treatment process, expected downtime and the homecare required.

The professional treatment begins with the Cosmelan 1 mask being applied in clinic. You will leave with the mask on and remove it at home after the time advised for your skin, usually between six and eight hours.

You will then follow the recommended Cosmelan homecare routine to continue working on the pigmentation and support your skin as it adjusts. Daily sun protection is an important part of the programme.

How does Cosmelan work?

Pigmentation develops when too much melanin, the pigment that gives skin its colour, collects in certain areas. Cosmelan is designed to reduce the appearance of this existing pigment and help control the process that produces it.

The first phase takes place in clinic, where the Cosmelan 1 mask is applied to the face. The mask begins the intensive treatment of dark patches and supports the renewal of the skin’s surface layers. You will remove it at home after the time set for your skin.

The homecare phase begins according to the schedule provided after treatment. Cosmelan 2 continues working on the pigmentation, while the recovery balm helps settle the skin and high-protection sunscreen limits further sun-related darkening. Following the homecare routine consistently is an important part of the treatment.

Cosmelan Depigmentation FAQs

Cosmelan requires a consultation first so Sangita can assess your pigmentation, check that the treatment is suitable and explain the treatment and homecare process.

The first changes are often visible within a few weeks. Dark patches may begin to look lighter and the skin may feel smoother. Keep following the homecare routine even when the pigmentation has faded, as controlling new pigment takes longer.

Yes. Sun exposure, hormones, inflammation and other triggers can cause pigmentation to return. Consistent homecare and daily sun protection are needed to help maintain your results.

Your skin may feel warm, tight, red or swollen during the first 12 to 48 hours. Peeling usually begins around day three and may continue for three to five days. Don’t pick or rub the peeling skin. Let it come away naturally and use the aftercare products as directed.

Avoid swimming, prolonged sun exposure and exercise that causes heavy sweating during the first few days. These activities can irritate the skin while it is adjusting after the treatment.

Peels, microneedling, exfoliation, IPL and laser treatments are generally avoided during the first three months of the Cosmelan programme. Other treatments should only be added when they have been included in your treatment plan.

Cosmelan is designed for all skin types and skin tones. Your skin and pigmentation still need to be assessed first so the treatment and homecare schedule can be adjusted for you.

Cosmelan isn’t suitable during pregnancy, while planning a pregnancy or while breastfeeding. It may also be unsuitable if you have an active skin infection, an allergy to any of the ingredients, or are using or have recently used isotretinoin, hydroquinone or certain antibiotics. Your health and medications will be reviewed before treatment is approved.
